Mock location is a device-level test input. Live location is an app feature that reads location over time and shares it through that service.
| Topic | Mock location | Live location |
|---|---|---|
| Where it works | Android location system | Inside a specific app or service |
| Main purpose | Development, testing or controlled simulation | Share a person or device position over time |
| Needs network | Coordinate supply may not; maps may | Usually yes for sharing and updates |
| Can be rejected | Yes, by receiving apps | Yes, by permission, network or account state |
Why the terms are confused
A live-location feature may display coordinates received from Android, but it adds its own permissions, update schedule, server delivery and sharing rules.
Use simulated data transparently
When testing a live-location feature, use test accounts and clearly label the session as simulated. Never use it to misrepresent a real person’s whereabouts.
Common questions
Does mock location automatically share my position?
No. Sharing happens only through an app or service you choose.
Will every live-location app accept a mocked point?
No. Each app decides how to handle mocked coordinates.
Use responsiblyReceiving apps can detect or reject mocked locations. Follow applicable laws and third-party terms; do not use FlashGo to mislead others or bypass restrictions.
