Test Location-Based Apps on Android

Build repeatable location tests for maps, delivery, navigation and tracking apps on real Android devices.

Turn unpredictable field movement into a controlled test input. FlashGo lets a team run a selected route on a real Android device and compare each build against known checkpoints.

Use responsiblyFlashGo includes developer testing among its stated uses. Receiving apps can detect or reject mocked locations; follow applicable laws and third-party terms.

Start with a test contract

  • Route: the exact selected points and their order.
  • Motion: walking, cycling or driving mode and the selected speed.
  • Environment: device, Android version and battery state.
  • Expected events: timestamps, screen states and backend messages.

Example regression run

  • Start 200 m outside a geofence.
  • Approach at a fixed walking speed.
  • Record the first event after crossing the boundary.
  • Continue out of the region and record exit timing.
  • Compare client logs and server events with the expected sequence.

Keep a small field-test set

Simulation is excellent for logic and regression, but retain real-world checks for GNSS signal loss, tunnels, sensors, radio transitions and manufacturer background behavior.

Common questions

Can this replace all field testing?

No. It reduces repetitive travel but cannot reproduce every physical and radio condition.

Should tests run on an emulator or real device?

Both can help. FlashGo is listed as an Android location changer with route modes for real devices.
