Modern Android testing does not require root access. The operating system lets you select one installed app as the test location provider.
What “no root” means
Root access changes the security model of the device. FlashGo can be selected through Android’s developer control, so the device can remain in its normal security state.
The supported setup
- Enable Developer Options.
- Select FlashGo as the mock location app.
- Choose a location or route and start it.
- Stop the session and select None when the test ends.
Compatibility has boundaries
Apps can check whether a location is mocked and may reject it. Device-management policies can also hide or lock Developer Options. No-root setup is straightforward, but it is not a guarantee of compatibility with every receiving app.
Common questions
Does Android’s standard mock location workflow need root?
No. It uses the mock location provider selected in Developer Options.
Can I do this without Developer Options?
The standard Android mechanism requires selecting a provider in Developer Options.
